Conference: Impacts of Ageing on Public Finances and Labour Markets in EU Regions

Institute of Economic Research, Slovak Academy of Sciences and OECD, Public Economics Division call for conference papers “Impacts of Ageing on Public Finances and Labour Markets in EU Regions” which will be held on October, 28th-30th, 2013  at Smolenice castle, Slovakia. Conference serves as forum bringing together researchers and academics from Europe and other regions to discuss the trends, causes and consequences of Ageing to Labour Markets and Public Finances across the EU.  All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.  Deadline for the abstract submission is June, 14th 2013. Deadline for submission the full version of accepted papers will be September, 15th 2013. The 3rd Winter Seminar of Regional Science will take place in the mountain resort of High Tatras in Slovakia on 20th – 23rd March 2013 in HOTEL TULIPÁN. The accommodation costs will be covered by the participants. If you would like to make your reservation in Villa Borievka (Dependance of Hotel Tulipan) or Hotel Tulipan, fill out the online booking form at the following link: http://www.hoteltulipan.sk/rezervacia-hotel-tulipan. In the Dependance of Hotel Tulipan our seminar participants have special accommodation price with breakfast: 35 €/ night/ person. 3rd Winter Seminar of Regional Science: Regional Economics in New Perspectives

We have the pleasure of inviting you to the 3rd Winter Seminar of Regional Science, which will take place in a mountain resort of High Tatras in Slovakia on 20th – 23rd March 2013. The main objective of the annual seminar is to bring creative academic debate on actual issues of regional/urban science and policy practice in an attractive environment and relaxed atmosphere. Seminar will be held in English. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings with ISBN. Authors will also have an opportunity to publish the papers in the peer reviewed journal Region Direct in 2013.

52. kongres European Regional Science Association v Bratislave – pohľad späť a pohľad dopredu

Keď v roku 1956 americký ekonóm Walter Isard založil Regional Science Association určite nedúfal, že jeho myšlienky budú mať taký veľký ohlas aj po viac ako 60. rokoch. Regionálna veda vznikla ako odozva na medzery hlavného prúdu ekonómie vo schopnosti vysvetliť problémy regiónov. Otázky regionálneho rozvoja vyžadujú interdisciplinárny prístup, a preto sa členmi asociácie od začiatku stali aj geografi, územní plánovači a urbanisti, sociológovia, právnici, ekológovia a pracovníci v príbuzných odboroch. Pôvodne pôsobili ako sekcia v rámci American Economics Association, ale v roku 1954 zorganizoval Isard prvé samostatné stretnutie akademikov a praktikov, ktoré sa neskôr transformovalo do formy nezávislej asociácie. Regional Science Association International v súčasnosti zastrešuje tri superregionálne zoskupenia – americkú, pacifickú a európsku. Európska asociácia regionálnej vedy (European Regional Science Association - ERSA) je s viac ako 3500 členmi jej najväčšou časťou. Na Slovensku sa história regionálnej vedy datuje od začiatku 90. rokov, kedy vznikla prvá organizácia zastrešujúca akademikov a praktikov v oblasti regionálnej vedy zo Slovenska a Česka. V roku 1998 bola formálne Slovenská sekcia prijatá za člena ERSA. Organizovanie 52. kongresu ERSA v Bratislave je preto vyvrcholením 20 ročnej práce, ktorú inicioval a po dlhé roky vedie profesor Milan Buček z Katedry verejnej správy a regionálneho rozvoja, NHF EU v Bratislave.
